RDA(=recommended daily allowance): 18 mg.
Function: Improves skin condition and regulates cholesterol levels; involved in the production of energy, blood transport, digestion and synthesis of sex hormones.
Side effects: Some people may experience a temporary flush (reddening of the skin and feeling warm) from vitamin B3. This never lasts long and is completely harmless.
Symptoms of shortage: Fatigue, digestion disorders and diarrhoea.
Possible causes of shortage: Unbalanced nutrition, excessive use of sugar or alcohol.
