Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is used by the Khoikhoi in South Africa as a euphoric stimulant. It is sniffed, chewed or drunk as a tea. It removes worried feelings and has a mood-enhancing and empathogenic effect.
In a higher dose it creates an euphoric feeling and a more intensive connection with the environment. After ingestion, it is slightly stimulating and after about an hour more relaxing .
