Syrian Rue is a bushy shrub with segmented leaves and white flowers. Its fruits contain many brown, angled seeds.
West Asia to Northern India and Mongolia.
Beta-Carboline alkaloids (Harmaline, Harmine and Tetrahydroharmine).
Very large doses have hallucinogenic effects, but are very harsh on the stomach and produce many negative side-effects. Mostly Peganum Harmala is used for its MAO-inhibiting properties. It increases the effects of any hallucinogen taken shortly after drinking Harmala extract. Because of the many risks of MAO-inhibitors, you should always read our information on these before experimenting with Peganum Harmala!
The seeds have to be boiled for at least 30 minutes in water with a bit of lemon juice to improve absorption. Drink the liquid without the seeds and wait about 45 minutes before taking the hallucinogen.
About 2,5 grams of seeds. Always take a smaller dose of the hallucinogen than you would without an MAO-inhibitor (especially the first time), the effects will still be far more intense and proceed much longer!
