Although the company was operated from 1846 by the Oldenboom family, the original company name was retained.
Today, the Jacob Hooy company is still located in one of Amsterdam's beautiful canal houses. This used to be a lively place, with the loading and unloading of herbs by ship. Today that is no longer the case, yet the Jacob Hooy company still smells of that typical scent of medicinal herbs, oriental spices, and delicious teas.
