Ibogaine alkaloids

Voacanga Africana is a small tropical tree that originated in Africa. It contains several interesting substances, of which the bark and seeds contain the highest concentrations. It contains voacangin and voccamia, which are chemically related to ibogaine. Iboga has been in the spotlight for a few years now as a plant that could be used to treat addictions. The substance ibogaine, together with the other substances present, acts on the addiction mechanism and has been used in treatments and experiments on animals and humans.
Voacanga is used for shamanic purposes in West Africa and to stimulate cognitive functions. Voacanga was also used to have more energy during hunting.

Pharmacological possibilities

The substances, alkaloids, found in voacanga are interesting for the medical world because of their different pharmacological possibilities. They work antibacterial, analgesic, stimulates the central nervous system, antispasmodic on the smooth intestinal muscles, anti-epileptic...

Usage

Soak in hot water for 15 minutes to make tea.
